Soft Fruit Picker Job Description

Task and Duties

• Select fruit for picking
• Pick fruit by hand
• Discard blemished, damaged or over ripe fruit
• Load picked fruit in punnets and trays.
• Grade and size
• Thinning crop

General Description

The worker shall as part of his/her general duties are responsible for harvesting various soft fruits including strawberries, blackberries, raspberries and blueberries.

The worker shall be required to work either in a glasshouse environment (where it can be hot) in poly-tunnels (partly covered area) or outside.

The plants are arranged on the ground, or table tops.

The worker is responsible for ensuring that the picked fruit meet the quality control criteria in that size, colour and maturity are to the expected standard.

It is important that the worker picks at a fast rate whilst maintaining a high standard of picked produce.

The picker must be fit, hard working and have good vision.
The worker must be reliable
The worker must be practical and efficient.
The worker must be co-operative and able to follow instructions
