Job description

Pro-Force actively employ nursery staff all year round. The job includes planting, cultivating and harvesting trees, shrubs, flowers, plants and landscaping work.

Main duties

Nursery and greenhouse workers prepare soil, transplant plants, apply pesticides, graft plants and transplant seedlings & cuttings. Activities also include regulating greenhouse conditions, outdoor irrigation systems and preparing shrubs, flowers & plants for sale.

Working conditions

Nursery and greenhouse-related workers are employed in humidity controlled greenhouses and nurseries. Temperature, ventilation, humidity, light, water and carbon dioxide can all be controlled by computers or by workers to produce the best possible growing environment in greenhouses. Landscape and grounds maintenance workers work outdoors in all kinds of weather.

Most of the work is manual, with an emphasis on practical hands-on skills which include bending, stooping, kneeling and lifting. Workers are required to be physically fit, dependable and able to take direction. They must also be able to work independently or as part of a team.
